In a gruesome domestic violence case, a soldier, Thembinkosi Radebe allegedly axed his wife to death before setting his two-roomed house on fire in Soshanguve, on the outskirts of Pretoria.

Relatives and neighbours say Thembinkosi and his wife Kea had a rocky marriage and were always trading accusations of infidelity.
“The last time I spoke to my Uncle he told me they were having marital problems but I never thought he could take such gruesome action,” said one of Thembinkosi’s nephew.
The police were at the scene of the crime and are conducting investigations.
Domestic violence continues to be a thorn in the flesh of South African society despite spirited efforts and campaigns to bring it to an end.
