A man, JABU Tshabalala is in hospital with first degree burns. He was allegedly burnt by four men, including a man he claims he caught with his girlfriend.
26 year old Jabu from New Eersterus in Hammanskraal, Tshwane beat up his girlfriend for allegedly cheating with another man.
He told Daily Sun he found his girlfriend in bed with the man two weeks ago. He ordered the man to leave and then he decided to punish the cheating woman.
“She wasn’t sorry about what she did and I decided to beat her up,” he said.
Jabu claims a few days later he found out that the woman’s lover was offering a R1 500 reward for anyone who could catch him.
He also received threatening phone calls and decided to go into hiding.
“Early on Friday morning he thought it was safe to go home, but he was wrong.
Jabu said: “Four men came to me and told me they were going to kill me. They took turns beating me up.”
He said they poured petrol over him and set him on fire.
His neighbours came to his rescue and put out the fire. They called the police and an ambulance and he was rushed to hospital.
Jabu’s mother Nomsa Seleko (58) said the girlfriend came to their house with two armed men last Tuesday.
She said: “They were looking for Jabu and she told me he was going to pay for what he did when they found him.”
