THE little three-year-old girl told her mum her uncle bit off a piece of her finger.

But the uncle, Sibongiseni Gumede, denied this . . .

He said the child was injured by a taxi seat!

But whatever the explanation, Lwandile’s mum wants the missing piece!

Lwandile was injured while travelling in Sibongiseni’s taxi to S’bonisani preschool from her home on 20 February.

Mum Slindile Ndelu (34) from Newtown A in Inanda said Sibongiseni told her he had heard Lwandile screaming, and that when his assistant Thembinkosi Ndlovu checked, the middle finger was bleeding.

“He said they rushed her to the clinic and called her gogo to report the incident. He told me they suspected she was injured by the taxi seat,” she said.

“But if Lwandile was injured by the seats, the piece of her finger would be in the taxi.”

Sibongiseni told the People’s Paper he believed the finger was injured by the seat.

Thembinkosi backed his story.

“We looked for the piece inside the entire taxi but couldn’t find it,” Thembinkosi said.

“We’re also confused about what really happened.”

Lwandile was transferred to Addington Hospital, where she spent a few days before being discharged.
