Yvonne Chaka Chaka's son was lucky to have escaped with minor injuries after he fought off a hijacker.
According to Sowetan, Themba Mhinga was on his way to visit a friend in Randburg, when a man attacked him at a stop sign.
The man apparently pulled out his car keys and a scuffle between them followed.
Yvonne told the paper that Themba's friends called to let her know that he had been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the incident.
"We fetched him from the hospital after people who called us told us he was taken there," she said.
The musician explained that Themba was driving with his window half-open when he was attacked.
Police confirmed to the publication that the suspect, who was wanted for in connection for other robberies in the area was nabbed, and was in custody.
