2017 is looking good for songbird Kelly Khumalo
She recently re-joined e.tv soapie Rhythm City as Sunay and now she reveals she is expanding her acting wings. Talking to DRUM at afro-soul crooner Dumza Maswana’s sold-out event in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, Kelly said she will be plying her trade as an actress for a movie, Zulu Wedding.
The movie features a whole host of hotshots including Bubu Mazibuko, Nondumiso Tembe, and the legendary Jerry Phele. “I play Jerry Phele’s wife and it was amazing working on this gig. The movie, although it has a global appeal, is also shot through with local nuances and it will resonate with the local audience. It was a great gig for me,” she said.
Kelly also told us she would be working on an unplugged recording project.
Also spotted at the event was Idols SA 2016 runner-up Thami Shobede and 2015 winner Karabo Mogane, songbird Siphokazi Mohapi and Muvhango actor Zwelethu Dube.
