The weekend started off on a sour note for a Durban driver who crash-parked her Mercedes C on a concrete bollard on Durban's beachfront on Friday afternoon.

A by-stander said: "I don't know what happened there but there were a lot of people who were clearly puzzled at the sight of this car on the bollard. It must have happened at speed for the car to be airborne."
It is not certain whether the driver lost control of her car at the intersection of KE Masinga and Sylvester Ntuli roads as a result of the wet conditions or whether she swerved to avoid another car and hit the kerb.
The by-stander said there were two people in the car - the driver and her passenger‚ who didn't appear to be hurt.
A number of tow truck operators rushed to the scene and the vehicle was eventually brought down and towed away.
