In an attempt to inspire young girls to strive to be independent women who believe in themselves‚ Nomzamo Mbatha shared her own journey as a girl with them.

Speaking at a workshop for young girls recently‚ the actress recalled how she once looked in the mirror and thought she was ugly.
“Growing up I didn’t think I was pretty. I used to look in the mirror and say yoh‚ ngimubi (ugly)‚” she said.
Nomzamo went on to add that she knew that didn’t matter‚ because it was in her ‘head’.
“I didn’t care about that. I didn’t care about how I looked because what’s important‚ is what’s here‚” she said while pointing to her head.
Motivating the young girls‚ Nomzamo told them that boys cannot stand girls who are smart‚ can stand up for themselves and who speaks a certain way.
The actress said that she usually doesn’t share the motivational talks she gives to young girls‚ but this one just “fed her soul“.
