A well-known Soweto born, Basetsana Kumalo, is turning 42 years old today.
The beauty of Mzantsi, was crowned Miss Soweto and Miss Black South Africa in 1990. Guess how old she was by that time, she was just a 16 years old, a minor. That’s when she started to become famous in South Africa.
Moving from the township crown, in 1994, she was crowned Miss South Africa, and got number 2 in the Miss World Pageant in the same year.
While she was still Miss South Africa, Basetsana was involved in many community upliftments projects. She also helped to fund raise for many charity organisations in the country.
A book could be written about Basetsana.
