Axed Former Idols Judge, Gareth Cliff is suing M-Net for R25-million for what he claims is wrongful dismissal.
According to ENCA news, the radio DJ also wants to be reinstated as an Idols presenter and be part of the new season, kicking off in the next few weeks.
Cliff’s lawyer, Eric Mabuza, confirmed to eNCA that his client was suing M-Net.
“He is suing for R25-million, including for defamation of character.”
Mabuza said the station had fired Cliff without having a “proper hearing”.
The CliffCentral host was fired from Idols SA for his comments about former estate agent Penny Sparrow.
Cliff had said Sparrow’s comments about beachgoers in Durban constituted free speech.
Several people labelled Cliff a racist and called on M-Net to remove him from the programme.
