South African comedian Trevor Noah will not be on his post as host of The Daily Show on Wednesday night as he had to undergo emergency surgery.

According to a statement released by Comedy Central on Wednesday Trevor underwent an emergency appendectomy. “We’re happy to report that the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from surgery,” Comedy Central said in a statement.  An encore episode of The Daily Show will be aired in the States on Wednesday night instead.  Noah took over as host of The Daily Show in September, succeeding Jon Stewart, who stepped down in August after 15 years.
