Shekhinah Thandi Donnell (born 2 October 1994), better known mononymously as Shekhinah, is a singer-songwriter from Durban, South Africa. Shekhinah was among the Top 32 of M-Net’s Season 7 of SA Idols in 2011 and among the Top 6 of Season 8 of SA Idols in 2012. Her debut album Rose Gold was certified gold by RiSA on 24 January 2018.
Suited hitmaker Shekinah won big at the South African Music Awards, which took place at Sun City two months ago. Shekinah took home three gongs in the top five categories, Best Album of the Year, Best Female Artist of the Year and Best Newcomer of the Year.
“(Shekinah’s album) Rose Gold is for women empowerment. We are killing it as women, let’s continue killing it as women of SA,” said Shekinah during her acceptance speech.
Last year Shekinah Donnell ended her 2017 with a bang. Barely a month after launching her debut album, “Rose Gold”, the “Suited” hitmaker was announced as the opening act for John Legend’s South African tour this weekend. For such talent, we are so happy for her and we will continue to love her.
