On Sunday, the judges of SA idols had to cut 14 singers from a group of 29, leaving behind only 16 to go forward in the competition.
The top 16, in no particular order, are: 
19  year-old Basetsana Kolwane from Kerksdorp.

23 year-old Blessed Mlangeni, an education student from Nelspruit. 
From Garankuwa,  21 year-old Botlhale Phora. 
21 year-old Christo Daniels from Port Elizabeth.

The 25 year-old 'reachers kid,' Faith Msibi from Witbank.

Gabi Du Plessis is the second youngest contestant and hails from Kenilworth, Cape Town.

Actress, singer, and songwriter from Honeydew, Gugu Zulu. 

23 year-old Nokuthula “Hadassah” Makhoba describes herself as a “full-time musician and part-time everything else." 
From Centurion, Pretoria, Lindokuhle “Lindo” Sithole. 
22 year-old final year law student at UKZN, Minenhle “Minnie” Ntuli. 

A true kasi guy from KwaMashu, 25-year-old Mthokozisi Ndaba.
The youngest contestant on Idols SA this season 16-year-old Paxton Fielies. 

19 year-old lass from Amanzimtoti, Phindile 'Phindy' Dube, 

Drama student from UKZN, Nomthandazo 'Tee' Xaba. 
20 year-old aspirant singer from Vosloorus, Gauteng, Thapelo Esau. 

27 year-old Soshanguve singer, Thokozile Ndimande.
