It is no secret that making it big in the music industry is hard and it comes with many challenges. Many artists get pressured to produce another hit especially after the success of their first single.

In no particular order, here are some of our favorite music stars who gave us a hit and vanished from the limelight.

Long before there was Babes Wodumo there was Da Babes. We were so happy when this girl group came out because back then in South Africa had a lack of successful girl groups and we basically did not pride ourselves in having girl groups then.

Queens Of Dance, another girl group we wish could've stayed in the music industry and just tackled all the challenges the industry comes with.

We have a few artists who opted for wearing a face mask whenever they stepped foot out, one of them is Sgonondo. Sgonondo was signed under Arthur Mafokate's music label 999 and gave kwaito lovers a hit called Amadragon. If there's anybody who knows his whereabouts, halla at us.

We also think Sgonondo's mask-wearing stunt did not serve him well, he just seemed like a Mzekezeke rip off to be honest.

We had no doubt that Drenko would be one of the successful Kwaito artists, but sadly he gave us Shaya' Amahoota and left the music scene.

Lead singer of the girl group Tyte, Kedebone Mkhabela broke into the scene as an SABC 1 continuity presenter and later became part of the music group called Tyte. Well, the girls gave us Tinzdaba and never came back with another hit. Kedebone is currently a radio host/producer on Rise FM.
