COMEDIAN, Skhumba Hlophe, allegedly left his fans high and dry on Thursday.
He allegedly failed to pitch at Meat Lounge, in Sunninghill, Sandton.
Fans were angry when they went to the venue for a fun night of comedy.
A fan said: “I’d had a terrible week and was looking forward to laughing my stress off.We waited for hours, and by 10pm, people started to leave.”
Another source said: Skhumba should never forget where he comes from and never disappoint his fans.“I thought he had a tragedy until I saw him posting about his upcoming show on social media.”
Meat Lounge’s Thursday comedy nights have a big following. It’s where the affluent unwind and network.
Meat Lounge’s manager, Michael Hlongwane’ confirmed Skhumba hasn’t performed there for the last two months.
“Yesterday (Thursday) he didn’t pitch and there was no communication at all. We’ve suffered financially for the past two months as we’d arranged everything and it cost us money. We’ll still meet with my bosses to see if we can take legal action against him,” he said.
This week Skhumba said: “I don’t have a contract with Meat Lounge. I’m one of the busiest comedians in Mzansi.
“It was an arrangement, and if they want publicity they mustn’t use my name. Last month they booked someone when I was absent, why now?
“I’m in Cape Town and I can’t be in Meat Lounge just for fun. I’m booked and getting more moola.”
