Mkhwebane lays criminal charges against Thuli Madonsela under Zuma instruction


The Sunday Times is reporting that Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has laid criminal charges against her predecessor, advocate Thuli Madonsela, for distributing a recording of President Jacob Zuma's interview during her state capture investigation.
Earlier this month, Madonsela admitted to leaking the recording, saying she has absolutely no regrets as the truth had to be told.
The audio disproved Zuma's claims that he did not get a chance to give his side of the story on state capture allegations.
It’s understood Mkhwebane decided to lay criminal charges against Madonsela following a complaint from Zuma.
According to report, Mkhwebane said she opened the case with the police because the handing over of the recording was in contravention of the Public Protector’s Act.
The Act states that no contents of any document in an investigation should be disclosed, unless the Public Protector determines otherwise.
Madonsela had finished her term as Public Protector when the tape aired on eNCA.
An investigation will now ensue to determine whether the leak happened in contravention of the Ac
