Rihanna insists she wasn’t the “problem” in her failed relationships, as all her exes are still single.
The 28-year-old singer’s love life has made the headlines over the years, from her on/off romance with boyfriend Chris Brown who assaulted her in 2009 to her romance with rapper Drake. She’s also been linked to the likes of Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, but is currently thought to be single. And in a new Instagram post, Rihanna made it clear that she isn’t to blame for her current situation.
“None of my exes are married or in happy relationships so it’s safe to say I wasn’t da (sic) problem lol (laugh out loud),” a piece of text posted on her account reads.
While it isn’t clear what triggered the outspoken comment, many speculate it’s aimed at her former beau Chris. The musician has had countless run-ins with the law since admitting to beating Rihanna six years ago, most recently reportedly threatening a woman with a gun in August (16). He also shocked the world when it was discovered he was a father to a daughter, Royalty, in March 2015.
But Drake, 29, appears to be in Rihanna’s good books at the moment and the pair have become close again since he declared his love for her at the MTV VMAs this summer (16). They were even caught locking lips on stage not long after the awards ceremony as part of Drake and Future’s joint Summer Sixteen Tour in September (16). While they’ve yet to confirm whether they are together, insiders claim the Hotline Bling hitmaker is smitten.
“Drake is very committed to Rihanna,” a source told E! News. “They are both mature and ready to commit now. Drake loves Rihanna so much and if it was up to him, he would marry her tomorrow.
“Things are different this time between them for the better. They want to make this work this time with each other.”
