Orlando Pirates players Oupa Manyisa and Luvuyo Memela missed PSL Absa Premiership Soweto Derby due to food poisoning.
On Saturday 30 October, Orlando Pirates head coach Muhsin Ertugral revealed that Brighton Mhlongo, Oupa Manyisa and Luvuyo Memela had gone out to eat on Tuesday and fell ill due to food poisoning and had to be hospitalised on the Wednesday, “Three of my boys this week went out to eat together and got food poisoning,” Ertugral said.
Manyisa was excluded from the starting line-up as he could not recover in time. Memela was later cleared by the doctors but fell ill an hour into kick off and was replaced by Riyaad Norodien.
While goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo played, he had to be treated during the first half of the game.
Orlando Pirates saw out a goalless draw with rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
