Kevin Hart’s believes his first marriage failed because he wasn’t mature enough when he wed Torrei Hart.
Kevin wed for the second time in August (16), tying the knot with Eniko Parrish, 32, at a star-studded ceremony in Montecito, California.
While the 37-year-old Ride Along actor now believes he’s mature enough for marriage, he admitted to U.S. chat show host Chelsea Handler that he wasn’t when he first tied the knot back in 2003.
“I was young on my first marriage, Chelsea,” Hart said. “I’m not ashamed to say it, guys. I got married at the age of 22. I was still all over the place. I didn’t really understand the definition of marriage.
“I wasn’t ready for it, so I take responsibility. I can say I messed my first marriage up. I’m man enough to say that.”
Despite his marriage to Torrei, 38, ending in 2010, the comedian and actor said he and his ex have maintained a strong relationship as parents to their children, son Hendrix, eight, and daughter Heaven, 11.
“I will say that me and my ex-wife, regardless of the problems we went through, are in an amazing place now where we’re friends, we’re great parents, we’re co-parents,” Kevin added.
Kevin admitted that getting married for the second time was a big step, but that he felt he had to do right by Eniko in their long-term relationship.
“To make this step is a big step. It took me some time,” he explained. “It took seven years. And then I was like, ‘You know what? She deserves it, because I can’t keep just letting this walk around free. That’s not fair to her.”
On Monday (10Oct16), the funnyman was joined by both his new bride and his ex-wife, as well as actress Halle Berry, as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – the 2,591st star in total.
