Ten Zimbabwean women and a one-month-old baby were rescued from an alleged prostitution ring in a flat in Pretoria yesterday, police said.

One of the women is pregnant.

They were rescued after a raid by the Hawks Organised Crime Unit, Pretoria TRT, K9 Unit, Home Affairs immigration officials and Crime Scene Management Experts.

Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda said one man, 32, was arrested after he was found with three women in one of the rooms in the flat.

He was allegedly using them for prostitution.

Netshiunda said two of the 10 women and another man had been detained for contravening the Immigration Act.

The eight other women were taken in for questioning.

They will appear in court soon.
