R&B crooner Vusi Nova officially launched his latest album Naninina on Wednesday night at a star-studded event in Morningside, north of Joburg.
He told us what the album means to him. “The album is very personal to me, as there are songs for my late parents, as well as my failed relationship,” he told us, adding that he still felt guilty for putting his mother through hell.
“When I did drugs, my mother went through hell, so the song Naninina is a prayer to God to help me bury the shame. The album is helping me to heal and I hope it will do that for everyone, who listens to it,” he said.
Meanwhile, his brother, actor Sisa Hewana looked on at Vusi’s performance with pride. “This moment has been a long time coming for my brother. His music has evolved. Vusi is finally sharing who he really is with the world and I’m proud of him for that and I’ve always known that,” he said.
The actor, who is also a musician himself, said he also wants to venture into music, but for artists based in the Eastern Cape, because they don’t have as many opportunities. “I don’t want them to think that to make it they have to move to Joburg, because they can still make it where they are,” he said.
Other stars who graced the event were Somizi Mhlongo, Donald, as well as Jessica Mbangeni.
