Presented by Kwela Tebza, this all-day celebration of women takes place at James Ethel and Gray Park in Johannesburg on Saturday 27 August.
Over 25 fierce female singers, dancers and DJs will grace the stage as the queens that they are. Her Majesty, The Queen hitmaker, DJ Zinhle will be on the decks as will the first lady of Durban house, DJ Cndo while SA favourites Khanyi Mbau and Chomee will be live and direct.
Other DJs include Ambitiouz Entertainment’s own Miss Pru and fabulous radio personalities, Lerato Kganyago, Poppy Ntshongwana and Ms Cosmo. Current IT girl, Babes Wodumo, will hit the stage with her electrifying dance moves while the legendary Thembi Seete blazes the stage.
Multi-award-winning hip-hop artist, Fifi Cooper plans to shake things up. Nadia Nakai, who is the sexy first lady of Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree company will be doing her thing as well as rap newcomer, Lil Red. Your favourite bald-headed chick, skanda queen Moozlie will take to the stage while the award-winning Gigi Lamayne plans to make the stage Shisa.
It wouldn’t be a celebration of the fairer sex if the finest vocalists in the country were not present. Representing all the R&B and house songstresses is Bucie. She won’t be the only one belting out tunes. Expect to see the veteran, Tamara Dey and the Kalawa Chikita herself, Busiswa.
The Iine-up also includes Durban’s own Ntando Duma and Nomzamo Mbatha alongside the vivacious Huddah Monroe and the sultry Denise Zimba.
‘Since August is Women’s Month in South Africa, why not showcase a celebration of this kind. The first annual Queens Picnic plans to honor SA’s finest female talent at one huge gathering’ says Kwela Tebza frontman Tebogo Lerole, ‘We are here to celebrate our queens and all things female. Everyone is welcome’.
