Zungu‚ who has not played a competitive match since being injured for Mamelodi Sundowns against Maritzburg United in January‚ had a frustrating spell on the sidelines but is nearing a return to action – a boost for both club and country.
The skilful Bafana Bafana central midfielder might be relieved to get back onto the field of play. He left South Africa under somewhat embarrassing circumstances when a leaked video clip of what appeared to be a naked Zungu fondling himself in the shower went viral.

Sunday’s season-opener against Braga may come too soon for him‚ but he will hope to see some action before the month is out with matches coming thick and fast.
He has been given the No 8 jersey – the correct number for his central midfield position – at his new club‚ a sign of the high esteem they have for the 23-year-old.
Zungu previously told Times Media Digital how his first match in a Vitoria shirt will be a dream come true.
“When I was a boy playing at [former National First Division side] Dynamos I had these big dreams‚ and now they are coming true‚” he said.
“First I hoped I would play in the PSL‚ and I did. Then for Bafana Bafana‚ and I did. Finally‚ I hoped to move overseas.
“To keep making a step up from Dynamos to the PSL with AmaTuks [University of Pretoria]‚ to a massive club like Mamelodi Sundowns and then Bafana. I think I have proven myself every step of the way.
“But I think what helps me is I am mentally strong. Whatever my situation and the challenges placed in front of me‚ I have the mental capacity to rise above it. I think that is one of my strongest points.”
Meanwhile‚ another South African at the club‚ Thibang Phete‚ also came back from injury this week and is in line for a return to first team action.
Phete‚ who is known as “Cafu” in Portuga‚ after the Brazilian star‚ had his breakthrough campaign at Vitoria last season and could be competing for place in the first team with Zungu.
The 22-year-old made 11 appearances last season‚ including in matches against giants Benfica and FC Porto.
There is a third South African at the club as well‚ though winger Haashim Domingo is officially part of the B team squad.
He already played his first game of the season‚ last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Santa Clara in what is the Portuguese second-tier.
He will hope to use the story of Phete as an example to follow‚ with the youngster starting the campaign in the reserve side‚ but very quickly being elevated into the first team group.
