LOTTERY operator Ithuba is celebrating its biggest jackpot winner yet!
But South Africans are wondering where the winner of the R87 624 435 Powerball is.
“I believe the jackpot winner is yet to validate the ticket and then collect the winnings, or they are still too shocked to realise that dreams do come true,” said the operator’s Charmaine Mabuza.
The winner bought a R20 Quick Pick ticket just one hour and 15 minutes before the draw.
John Mphosi is the owner of Global Filling Station in Mokopane, Limpopo where the winning ticket was bought. He said he felt as if he was the winner.
“I am so excited and hope we can finally find the winner. We tried to look at the CCTV footage, but a lot of people played at that time,” he said.
Winners have 365 days from the date of the draw to claim their money. Since taking over the running of the lottery last June the operator has created 69 millionaires across the country.
“I urge players and non-players to take a chance,” said Mabuza. She said they provided winners with counselling because winning large amounts could be overwhelming. “We pride ourselves on services we provide our winners because a lot of them manage their finances well. We also have winners who have never come to claim their winnings,” she said.
Another big jackpot is on the line, with R30 million guaranteed in today’s Lotto jackpot draw.
