AWARD-WINNING Afro-pop sensation Kabomo Vilakazi is accused of being a “crook”.
This comes after it emerged that the Sekusilehitmaker allegedly owes Scandal! actors, Sello Maake Ncube (Lucas), Kagiso Modupe (Mangaliso) and Generations: The Legacyactor and 5FM radio presenter, Thando Thabethe (Nolwazi), for their roles in his movie titled The Melody.
The movie was shot two months ago in Jo
It’s alleged Kabomo owes Kagiso an estimated R50 000, Sello R70 000 and Thando R40 000.
It’s alleged Kabomo has vacated his house in Paulshof, in Sandton, and changed his contact details. Kagiso said: Kabomo lured him into taking up a role in the movie, but hasn’t paid him.“I took part in that movie as I was empowering a black moviemaker. The only problem is he was dishonest from the start.
“I signed the contract the same day we started shooting the movie. What made me angry is he treated me like a groupie.
“It’s been two months now and he’s playing hide and seek. I didn’t want this to be in the media. I wanted us to solve this matter
man-to-man,” he said.
“I know this is a small industry and we’ll meet some day and we’ll fix it as men.
“I’ve tried to call him and some of the cast members from the movie sent me his new numbers. I did him a favour as a friend.”
  • Thando said: “I’d rather not comment. I prefer to sort it out with him personally. Yes, he owes me, but not that amount. My manager is handling my outstanding funds.”
Sello Maake Ncube could not be reached for comment. On Thursday, his PA Tretromella Ndaba said the actor was busy.
Yesterday when she was contacted again,Tretromella said: that he was busy in Grahamstown and promised to send him an sms.“I sent him an SMS and he promised to call you back. I’ll send him another SMS. He’s aware that you are doing a story about him being owed some money by Kabomo,”
Kabomo was unavailable for comment and didn’t respond to SMSes.
