The e.tv drama‚ which premiered on local screens in March last year‚ is already headed for its fourth season — set to air on Monday‚ June 27.
In a statement to TMG Entertainment‚ Marlon Davids‚ Managing Director for e.tv Channels confirmed that the award-winning show will be closing shop in September this year‚ explaining that it was only commissioned for four seasons.
“The show was only commissioned for four seasons and it will come to an end in September 2016‚” he said.
Marlon added that the show has garnered impressive ratings in the past year.
“Umlilo shared impressive ratings for the channel and created trending conversations on social media every week.”
Umlilo‚ which is set against the backdrop of a polygamous family‚ was greeted by a frenzy of excited fans when it first debuted on screen. Since then‚ the show has grown into a massive success and undoubtedly a fan-favourite.
