Isikizi need to know

Isikizi, which means “disgrace”, produced by Paw Paw Films is a Xhosa drama that follows the tragic story of an honourable, but impulsive young man, who runs away from his hometown in a desperate attempt to escape a dreadful prophecy that was decreed upon his life.

Inspired by a Shakespearean story and set in rural Eastern Cape, the leading character’s journey begins when he returns from the mountains, only to overhear a dreadful prophesy that will change his destiny for the worst.

Isikizi will tackle issues of true love and its consequences, fate versus free will, the power of fear and the importance of honouring one’s heritage.

“We are taking storytelling to another level with Isikizi. This is essentially a love story, but a demented love story that is going to get people talking about things that are seen as taboo in our society. We want the viewers to be conflicted about who the hero of this story is…,” says Reneilwe Sema, Head of Drama at M-Net for Local Entertainment Channels.

The drama stars Tina Jaxa, Timmy Kwebulana, Zandile Msutwana, Phila Madlingozi, Chris Gxalaba, Bongo Mbutuma, Ayanda Dlamini, Andrea Dondolo, Vicky Kente and Khayakazi Kula among othes.

Be sure to tune into Isikizi @ 8pm every, Monday form July 11 on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 20:00.
