If you have what it takes to get people chuckling then this casting call is for you...

Comedy Central is on a search for stand-up comics from across sub-Saharan Africa and auditions are open as we speak.

The search is called Grab the Mic and there are two ways of entering:

1. By submitting an online video,
2. By performing live at Parker's Comedy and Jive at Montecasino in Joziburg.

Submitting an online vid

To enter online you need to upload a video clip of yourself performing your comedy routine. The clip needs to be between 30 seconds and three minutes.

NB: If you e-mail your entry you need to include all of the details requested on the entry form i.e. Your name, surname, date of birth etc.

One finalist will be selected from these online auditions.

Performing live

You can apply to audition live at Parker's Comedy and Jive by e-mailing Joe Parker on this address:[email protected].

The search is happening every Wednesday night at Parker's so you'll be asked to perform on an upcoming Wednesday night if your application is successful.

One winner will be chosen on each night.

How the winners will be chosen

Heat winners from the live auditions and the online finalist will battle it out at an event on 24 November 2016. These performances will be filmed and broadcast live.

Two winners will be chosen: one from South Africa and one from the rest of Africa.

Entry must-knows

The competition is open to amateur comedians from sub-Saharan Africa who have not previously participated in a paid performance at Parker’s or any other comedy club.

The competition opened on 15 June and closes on 15 September at 10h00 (CAT).

You need to 18 or older to enter.

You can perform in English, French, Portuguese, Afrikaans or any commonly spoken African language or dialect.
