She also had a role on Mzansi Magic's 2013 mini-series Single Mothers, where she became well-known for playing Gugu.
Mophuting believes one "can be famous today and be a nobody tomorrow".
"I don't assume anything. I have come to learn that it's the nature of this industry. Being on TV, people, more so viewers, identify with the characters they see," Mophuting says.
"I think viewers liked Gugu, and in turn, I became famous because of the role."
On Isibaya, Mophuting (26) portrays Kaone, Thandeka's housekeeper who was once Iris's nanny.
The characters of Thandeka and Iris are played by Nomzamo Mbatha and Mampho Brescia, respectively.
Kaone is also a caretaker to the wheelchair-bound Fezile, real name Andile Mxakaza.
"On the surface, Kaone has a child-like innocence," says Mophuting, who relocated to South Africa to study performing arts at AFDA in 2010.
"But she's a simple girl in what seems a complex environment, is a dreamer and unafraid of aiming high. Her story is steadily unfolding."
According to Mophuting, her character is "boy crazy" and had crushes on a few characters with no success.
"She sees no problem with going for men who are completely out of her league."
Mophuting auditioned for the role of Kaone three years ago. There, she was asked to improvise a scene. Weeks later, she was told she had won the role.
"Isibaya was my major breakthrough. But it did not come easily for me. I had gone for longer than a year-and-a-half without work," she said.
"I auditioned for a lot of roles, possibly more than 100 times, without success."
She had a role in the stage musical Annie, when she was at secondary school.
"I have also done several short films, as part of my degree, and TV commercials."
"My aunt and mother used to say 'Koketso, o rata go phefoma' (likes performing) , and I took that quite literally," Mophuting said.
"It's a wonderful thing to have a family that allows you to explore."
