Bio

Zikhona Sodlaka is a South African actress best known for her starring roles in such television series as Shooting Stars, Rhythm City, Soul City, Intsika and Montana.

Born in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, she and grew up in KwaZulu-Natal. She attended school at Excelsior SSS and left in grade 9. She received the remainder of her schooling at Warriors Rust high school in Margate.

Her tertiary education was undergone at Shepstone College where she studied Business Admin. She completed her Diploma and moved to Johannesburg where she registered - and did the first six months - of Computer Programming (IT) at Havtec, before pulling out to pursue her passion for art.

She found success as a model, on television commercials and with a bit part on Generations, but she always wanted to act and made sure that she was at as many auditions as possible in order to crack television drama.

When Curious Pictures started looking for the new lead character Zukiswa for the fourth and final season of Tsha Tsha, her agent put her forward immediately. Her look was perfect for the role and her relative inexperience did not put producer Lumko Dukashe off. Zikhona's experience with Latin dance was an added bonus for the production.

From 2007-2010 she starred as Ayanda Tau in the e.tv soccer drama Shooting Stars.

She later played the role of Noluthando in the SABC1 drama series Soul City and the leading role of Noli Ntshinga in the SABC1 drama series Montana. She also acted in the SABC1 miniseries Entabeni (based on the Shakespeare play Macbeth) and starred in the second season of the SABC1 drama series A Place Called Home.

She also played the role of Suarez Baloyi on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City, joining the show in 2011. In the same year, Zikhona played the role of Phakama in the SABC1 drama series Intsika. She also played the role of Themsi in the Tim Greene-directed film Skeem.

In 2013 she had a guest starring role in the SABC1 drama series Intersexions and a starring role in the controversial drama series After 9, taking over the role of Zee from Khanyi Mbau, who played it in the first season.

In 2015 she was the host of Top Actor SA, the first original series to air on the new BET channel when it premiered on 2 April, 2015.
