Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille says her office will investigate a racist social media post by Noordhoek resident Matthew Theunissen.
Theunissen took to Facebook to slam Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula’s decision to ban certain sporting codes from hosting international tournaments.
A screengrab of the post has gone viral and Theunissen’s name has been trendingon Twitter.

De Lille has condemned recent racist jabs from private individuals, who she says do not reflect the attitudes of all people living in the Mother City.
She has urged residents to report alleged racist incidents to her anti-racism campaign desk.
I have established a special desk in my office for people to lodge complaints about alleged racism.
