BAFANA Bafana striker Dino Ndlovu is in hot water.
The Anorthosis Famagusta Football Club player – who plays in the Cyprus First Division – allegedly moered a man at a nightclub.
Klerksdorp cops confirmed that they were investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against the player.
Dino was withdrawn from the Bafana squad that drew 0-0 against Cameroon last week in Durban due to injury.
He was arrested on Saturday 26 March and made a brief appearance in the Klerksdorp Magistrates Court last Tuesday.
Complainant Pana Mokoena of Orkney’s Kanana kasi in North West says he was at Goodfellas in Klerksdorp when the incident occurred.
“I was driving out of the parking lot when I heard people screaming, saying I would hit their car. I told them that I wouldn’t, but I was attacked by Dino and his friends,” claimed Pana.
“When I saw Dino in court, he asked me to drop the charges against him, but I refused. One of the court officials told me that my case was not strong, but I don’t understand why.
“Dino is a celebrity, so there are chances that my case might just vanish.”
Pana – who is nursing a swollen, blue eye – wants justice.
North West police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm is still being investigated.
Dino’s lawyer, Kgotso Baloyi, said: “My client was arrested on Saturday and granted bail to appear in court on Tuesday.
“The matter was then taken off the court roll pending the investigations.”
Baloyi said the player left the country last Wednesday, and when questioned further, asked to be called later on, saying he was busy in court.
According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Frank Lesenyego, the docket arrived late in court, so it has been sent to the director of public prosecution for decision.
