While popular gospel group Joyous Celebration were entertaining thousands of music lovers over the weekend, the wife of one of the founders was fighting for her life in hospital.
Nhlanhlo Mkhize, the wife of Lindelani, conductor and producer of the award-winning ensemble, apparently suffered a heart attack a few days before the Joyous show at Carnival City in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg.
She is said to be recovering well at a Johannesburg private clinic.
Mkhize told Sowetan that Nhlanhlo was on the mend but pointed out that his family matters were private.
“I don’t talk about my family matters to the media,” he said.
Sources close to the family said Mkhize spent most of his time this weekend by Nhlanhlo’s bedside.
Mkhize is known for discovering many local musicians. He has been in gospel talent shows such as I Want to Sing Gospel and Clash of the Choirs as a judge.
