This was after former Orlando Pirates player Manti Mekoa, previously Moholo, instructed his lawyers to stop one of the divas, Promise Zondo, from mentioning him as her ex or current bae on the famous show.
A source, close to the production team, said the letter forced the producers to mute Zondo's voice in the episodes where the Maritzburg United midfielder's name is mentioned.
"They couldn't reshoot the episodes because they had already spent a lot of money filming them," said the deep throat.
"So they decided to mute her voice whenever she mentions his name. Their biggest concern was that this would affect the quality of the show, but they had no choice."
Mekoa told Sunday World he never dated Zondo, but referred us to his lawyer, identified as Mosa for a detailed comment.
But Mosa could not be reached for comment.
According to Zondo: "I'm no longer dating Manti. I have nothing to say on behalf of my production team or the show."
But head of public relations for local entertainment channels at M-Net Nondumiso Mabece insisted there was a relationship between Mekoa and Zondo.
"In the production of reality programmes, the production team conducts extensive research on the participants and claims they made on the show," she said.
"To participate on Diski Divas, the ladies have to be currently dating or married to a soccer player, or must have dated or been married to one.
"The lady in question meets that criteria and has produced the related proof."
