HE WAS mugged and raped at knifepoint.
And as if that wasn’t bad enough, people from his village now mock him and say he has fallen pregnant after the rape!
The 41-year-old victim told Daily Sun the rape happened on Sunday night while he was on his way home to Malamula Village from Gumbani Village, outside Malamulele in Limpopo.
“A man came up behind me and ordered me to take off my pants because he wanted to feed himself.
“I refused, so he took out a knife, pulled down my pants and raped me,” said the victim. I felt so humiliated that I wished he had killed me. He also took the 60 cents I had in my pocket.”
The victim said other villagers were laughing at him for bending over for another man. “They say I’m pregnant with the rapist’s child. I’m traumatised and the mocking is not helping at all.”
Warrant Officer Alson Mapindani of the Malamulele police said they received a tip-off from community members about a man who was lying helplessly on the side of the road.
“When we arrived on the scene at about 9pm, we found the victim sobbing. He was taken to hospital and discharged the same day,” said Mapindani.
He said the victim sustained minor injuries all over his body from the scuffle between him and his attacker.
The cop said more than 10 cases of rape and robbery have been reported on the road where the incident happened over the last five months.
“The police are investigating cases of armed robbery and rape but no arrests have been made.
“We appeal to anyone with information to come forward,” the cop said.
