DJ Zinhle and AKA

These two had been together for three years and seemed like nothing would break them. However, shortly after they welcomed their baby girl Kairo, they dropped the mother of all bombs - they decided to end their relationship. Zinhle took to her blog to share the news.
In a statement, she said: "After a great deal of thought, reflection and discussion we have decided to end our relationship of three years. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it..." We really didn't see that one coming.

K.O and Sarah Langa

In an interview with ZAlebs, Sarah confirmed that she and K.O dated for five years. Although they were private about their relationship, they were often spotted at events together. Another break-up we didn't see coming!

Bridget Masinga and Thabiso Khathi

The Jacaranda FM host confirmed her split from her husband this year. The couple, who got married in 2009, went their separate ways in 2014. They cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for their split.
In a statement, Bridget said the split was amicable. "... "We've come to the realisation that we were better off as platonic friends than we were as a married couple. And so we made the decision to release each other from the binds of marriage."

Bonang Matheba and D'Banj

Okay, so their relationship was never confirmed, but all the "evidence" pretty much sealed the deal for us. Rumours about their relationship surfaced after Bonang started posting cosy pictures of herself and the Nigerian singer.
They basically "confirmed" everything when the walked the MTV Africa Music Awards red carpet together, where they even kissed after D'banj won an award.
However, things turned sour (on social media, at least) after D'banj sent a birthday message to his rumoured on/off girlfriend, Adama Indimi. The Oliver Twist hitmaker referred to Adama as "the Queen of my heart'. Ouch! Talk about setting the record straight.

Atandwa Kani and Thembisa Mdoda

Yho! Where do we even start? It took a while to figure out what was actually going on here. Thembisa and Atandwa were reportedly married in a traditional ceremony. The two actors, who have twin boys together, seemed to have called it quits this year.
Mzansi picked up on the split after Atandwa declared his undying love for his It's Complicated co-star, Fikile Mthwalo, on social media.
The lovebirds have since gotten engaged and are excited about their upcoming wedding. Speaking to ZAlebs in July, Fiksie said: "I'm ecstatic, I'm the happiest I've ever been. Being engaged to basically my dream man, because he's perfect for me."

OPW and ABSA

Uhm... this is one of those stories that escalated quickly.
The popular Mzansi Magic show landed in hot water after airing an episode about a groom who started dating his wife when she was 14 years old. He was 28!
Many people accused the show of "promoting rape culture" and some even vowed to never to watch the show again. A complaint was even sent to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) because of that episode.
Mzansi Magic issued an apology. However, it was too late as ABSA decided to pull out as the show's sponsor.
