8-year-old Shiqi lost her battle against brain tumor but she will be saving five more lives after her parents decided to donate her organs after death. When Shiqi was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her brain in November, doctors told her parents that it would be extremely difficult for the surgery to succeed. And even if it had succeeded, her life would have been extended by only three months.

Shiqi’s parents, both migrant workers in Shenzhen, decided to donate their daughter’s organs after watching Shiqi suffer from pain.

"There are things we may not be able to hold, but we can pass down our girl’s life and love to someone else," the couple told Chongqing Daily.

Shiqi’s pair of corneas, liver and kidneys will be donated among five people. Her body will also be donated to a medical school for research.
