MDU MASILELA, aka “The “Godfather” of kwaito music, jumped onto the stage to do a collaboration with hip hop star Duncan.
But the excitement was almost short-lived as Mdu’s pants were torn apart.
But the torn pants didn’t stop Mdu from giving a killer performance at the Motsepe Foundation Christmas party last week.
The 43-year-old musician was called on stage by Duncan in KwaMashu, KZN, to perform the rapper’s remix hit of Tsiki Tsiki.
Upon ascending the stage, fans went wild when they saw the legendary Mdu performing the song for the first time in Durban.
Fans got even crazier when Mdu did the vosho (get down dance).
But the vosho damaged his pants, and luckily Mdu had on some brief shorts covering his private parts. The embarrassing moment didn’t stop Mdu from dancing with Duncan as if nothing had happened.
“I was so worried he would stop dancing in the middle of their killer performance,” said Mbali Mlotshwa, a self-confessed Mdu fan.
Mdu admitted it was a bit embarrassing but he took it well.
“I decided to just continue and give it my best,” he said laughing.
Mdu promised his fans he might be returning to the music scene:
“I might drop an album soon.”
