SONGBIRD Bongi Dube is now taken.
The daughter of the late reggae legend, Lucky Dube, secretly exchanged marriage vows with her long-time boyfriend, Sibusiso Ndlovu.
Sibusiso is a well-known medical doctor
in KZN.
The wedding, which was attended by less than 300 guests, took place at the plush Dundee Race Course in the northern part of KZN on 28 November.
Besides close family members, famous faces that graced the occasion included Afro-soul singer Ringo Madlingozi, actress Motshabi Tyelele and Ukhozi FM trio of Irvin Sihlophe, Khetha Gwala and DJ Mngadi, poet Mxo Mtshali, comedian Simphiwe Shembe and Pastor Vusi Dube.
Simphiwe, who was the programme director, confirmed the wedding took place.
“It was one of the best weddings I’ve ever attended. The view, the place and the set-up were just perfect for the couple”
Flamboyant Durban pastor he said. Vusi Dube, who led the proceedings, posted photos of the wedding ceremony. In some pictures he poses with Ringo and Tyelele, drawing attention to his facebooks who send well wish messages.
According to Sunday Sun sources, the
almost-forgotten Afro-pop singer wanted to keep her wedding a secret.
“Wedding plans started early this year and everything was done secretly. It’s always been her wish to keep her personal life out of the limelight,” said our mole.
Another source revealed the two newly-weds have been together for the past four years after they met each other at Ringo’s concert in 2011.
At the wedding, sources said Ringo joked about being proud of having played a part in getting Bongi and Sibusiso together.
About Bongi’s music career, another source said: “She’s not done with music yet. Her hubby, who is a doctor in Pinetown, is supportive.”
Bongi burst into the music scene with the songs, NgenzenjaniNgifuna Wena and Go around.
Bongi and her husband were not available for comments as their phones rang unanswered
