As comedienne and TV presenter Tumi Morake wraps up a 13-part special of Mzansi Magic’s Our Perfect Wedding (OPW), a new presenter has been announced.
The Road actress Thembisa Mdoda, the sister of radio jock Anele Mdoda, will be taking over from the popular comedian.
The hit reality show documents couples’ final preparations ahead of their wedding days. It captures the behind-the-scenes drama and heart-warming ceremonies of ordinary South Africans on their journeys to creating their “perfect weddings”.
And now as another successful season ends, a new face will greet couples and viewers in 2016. Mzansi Magic describes Thembisa as a creative whose love for words has seen her flourish in the media industry. Head of Reality Programming for Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net Sphumelele Sibeko said, “We are thrilled to have Thembisa join OPW. Each season we introduce a new presenter and she is the perfect fit for the sixth season.”
The actress/businesswoman has already started recording the new season, set to air early next year. “I’m ecstatic about joining OPW. I love the show and what it stands for,” she said.
On a personal note, Thembisa was infamously married to former Generations actor Atandwa Kani. The couple, who have two kids together, broke up earlier this year after rumours of infidelity.
Back to OPW, will Thembisa manage to win over harsh online critics (something season 5 presenter Ayanda Mpama couldn’t do)? Ayanda then left the show and Tumi (the season 4 presenter) was called in to do the special episode edition. Thuli Thabethe (season 1), Brenda Ngxoli (season 2) and Phumeza Mdabe (season 3) have all hosted the show.
Tune in to Our Perfect Wedding every Sunday on Mzansi Magic at 7 pm on DStv channel 161.
